Avenue Electronics was founded as a sole proprietorship in 1978 by its current owner Robert H. Mulz at the business current site of 3829 University Ave. Mr. Mulz maintains 100% ownership along with his wife. The business was established as a distributor to provide electronic parts and supplies primarily in the San Diego area. It was started as a small “Mom and Pop “operation having one full time employee and a part time owner (Mr. Mulz was still serving in the U.S. Navy at the time). The business grew as a result of word of mouth and being known as the place to get hard to find parts and supplies. As it grew, the company added more manufacturers’ lines and now has an impressive line card of authorized franchised lines covering the most modern equipment. Video Electronics enjoys the status of being California State certified “Small Business” and as a “Disabled Veterans Business Enterprise” The United States Small Business of the Year for outstanding contributions in 2005.

Robert H. Mulz, is the founder and current owner of Video Electronics located in San Diego, CA. which was established over 30 years ago. Mr. Mulz engineered and holds a patent to the product, The Lil’ Bitty Tester, distributed in the global market. A distinguished and highly decorated veteran, Mr. Mulz retired from the United States Navy as a Master Chief (E9) after serving his country for over 27 years. During his service, Mr. Mulz received 2 Naval Commendation medals and 5 Navy Achievement medals with Combat V for superior service along with additional many medals and other personal letters of commendation. His achievements in the U.S. Navy are further exemplified with the authorship of several electronics course manuals.
