Swiss House was originally established in Lucerne, Switzerland in 1802. After several generations of watchmaking, one of the family moved to Chicago, Illinois and set up a shop. The next generation moved to Orlando in 1952 and opened another shop in 1953. The Heckman’s operated as a full-service watch and clock shop till 1983, when they sold the store out of the original family, to the current owner/operator Bart Polachek. Swiss House does 98% of all the work inhouse, accepting house calls, and guarantees full repairs for a year. The repairs we do range from replacing watch batteries, bands, and crystals to repairing and restoring almost any kind or brand of clock, and music box, antique or modern.
Established in 1953.
Family started in Lucerne Switzerland in 1802. One member of the legacy moved to Chicago, Illinois in the late 1920’s. One daughter’s boyfriend learned the profession in the 30’s and relocated to Orlando, Florida in 1953. They served the wholesale part of the industry here till 1963 and then opened up The Swiss House to the retail trade. After 30 years here, and no one to pass the business down to, they sold the store to the current owner and technician. We have been serving Orlando now for over 30 years and no plans to disappear like so many others. Bring in your family treasures that need repair OR come in to see if we might have something you can make a part of your family’s treasures.Bart P.
