Half Moon Empanadas was founded by Juan Zavala in 2006, an Argentine-born entrepreneur, when he moved from the DC-area to South Florida. In 2008, Half Moon launched its first location in Miami Beach, FL. Today, Half Moon operates retail locations at several non-traditional venues, including the Univ of Miami and Miami Int’l Airport, among others. Half Moon’s central commissary is located in the city of Miami.
