Shady Lane, voted Best Jewelry & Gifts in Palo Alto, moved to Sharon Heights Shopping Center in Menlo Park in March 2015. A locally-owned shop providing a wonderful showcase for the exceptional talent of local and international artisans, Shady Lane was founded over 40 years ago by artisans Alice and Rick Deutscher to offer their own creations.

Shady Lane was founded by Alice and Rick Deutscher as a showcase for their own creations. Alice was a textile artisan specializing in batik and hand dyed silk accessories and Rick was a fine wood worker specializing in jewelry boxes and inlay. They made a living at juried art shows thru out the western states for over 25 years. Alice is now proud to showcase not only local but international artisans in her store. Shady Lane is truly a heart centered store that was founded to celebrate local artisans and promote beauty and fine workmanship at all price points.

After graduating from college with an art degree and a teacher’s credential I decided to «take a break» and sell my creations at art fairs. I have never regretted my new path and where it led me. I love what I do and I now can support new and upcoming artisans both locally and internationally.
