City Peanut Shop

City Peanut specializes in fresh roasted peanuts, tree nuts, specialty caramel corns and nut brittles. We feature local craft beer/wines and ciders for take-out. Our products are hand-crafted in small batches and we constantly create new variations of flavors. We collaborate with the Boise Brewing community to create nuts, brittles and chocolate using beer & beer ingredients. You can find our products for sale at most local breweries. Check out the Our Pistachio, Pecan, Almond, Peanut and Cashew brittles are hand-pulled until thin and crunchy. Come try the Maple Bacon Cashews, Afterburner Peanuts, Smoke Jumper Peanuts, Rooster Nuts, MFT BBQ Peanuts, Chili-Cherry Mix, Maple Syrup Cayenne Pecans, Igniter Ghost Chili Peanuts and Boise’s Best flavored popcorns like Cheddar Caramel and Hop Corn. We have cool holiday tins, party trays, meeting snacks, Boise t-shirts, pint glasses and other gear.

City Peanut Shop is the creation of Dan Balluff who was inspired by his father to re-invent the old-fashioned nut shops that once populated the cities in the midwest, south and east coast. We are a family business, focused upon building collaboration with other businesses. Our collaborations include Idaho Breweries, local restaurants, local specialty food creators, wineries, and cider & soda-makers. We are proud to have helped turn a block of downtown Boise into a foodie’s delight. We work hard to buy local, be sustainable and provide you with a unique, friendly experience. We sample most everything in the store so that you can experience how good they are.

Dan grew-up in the mid-west and moved to Boise in 1981. After an adventurous career in high-tech, and living in Amsterdam, Dan opened City Peanut to help make downtown Boise smell and taste better. Dan enjoys collaborating with other fine local companies such as Payette Brewing, MFT BBQ, Boise Brewing, Dream Chocolate etc., to create unique, hyper-local products. Most of all, he wants you to have a unique experience in his store.
Dan loves Boise and works hard as a board member of the Downtown Boise Association, Buy Idaho and Capitol City Public Market (committee member) to make this town & state the most livable, economically viable city in the West. When not roasting nuts, you will find him in the foothills on his mountain bike and then relaxing at a local brewery.
