Established in 1972.
The Cheese Hamlet started with Arthur Axon and has been in the family ever since! It was his love of French cheese that began the story of the shop which was opened off the back of a successful bakery in Chorlton. We are a family run independent cheese specialist based in Didsbury, South Manchester. We are members of The Specialist Cheesemakers Association and members of the management committee of The Guild of Fine Food Retailers. We hold the Gold Medal of Honour and the Order of Merit from the Swiss Cheese Union, and have over 40 other awards (including Cheese Retailer of The Year — 3 consecutive years) for cheese retailing during our 40 years of traditional trading.
