4th Street Food Co-op

The 4th Street Food Co-op is currently Manhattan’s only food co-op. We are part of the Lower East Side/East Village community. We carry a wide variety of organic produce, mostly organic healthy food and environmentally friendly household products and personal care items, both prepackaged and in bulk. Anyone can shop but we offer some great member discounts.

We began in 1995 as a storefront food cooperative, replacing the Good Food Coop, which began in 1973 as a buying club and became a storefront food cooperative. We evolved into a predominantly-organic, vegetarian grocery store. We’re member-owned, and member-run. We serve the community in which we live. We are comprised of a large body of working members and non-working members, and we have a core structure of 9 working-groups responsible for coop administration and maintenance.
