Turano Baking Company is a family-owned and operated specialty baking company that produces over 400 varieties of full and par-baked breads and baked specialties that are delivered daily to customers throughout Chicagoland and also across the nation. How it began: Mariano Turano came to America from Calabria, Italy in pursuit of his dream to provide a better life for his family. In 1962, he founded Campagna-Turano Bakery, Inc., in Chicago, Illinois. The company’s first bakery was only 1,000 square feet in size producing fresh baked Italian Hearth breads with delivery to neighboring homes. In 1967, Turano Baking Company relocated to Roosevelt Road in Berwyn, Illinois, where it has been headquartered since. Mariano Turano came to America from Calabria, Italy, in pursuit of his dream to provide a better life for our family and in 1962, he founded Turano Baking Company. Only 1,000 square feet in size, this small bakery made a big impression among surrounding neighborhoods thanks to authentic Italian recipes Mariano brought over from his hometown. Since then Mariano’s sons, Renato, Umberto and Giancarlo have made it their mission to carry on the tradition of excellence, creativity and reliability that their father started over forty-five years ago, turning Turano Baking Company into what is now the nation’s leading European bakery. As the next generation of the Turano Family eagerly contributes to the company’s success, we do so with the same passion for “the art of bread making” that our grandfather did when he came to America almost half a century ago.
