Established in 1993.
Liberty Heights Fresh was started by “Chief Eating Officer” Steven Rosenberg, who was raised on a Michigan fruit and vegetable farm. After a move to Utah in the early 1980’s it became apparent that there was a need for a retail store that put the values of authenticity and full-flavor at the top of the list. Liberty Heights Fresh has won numerous regional and national awards and continues an unyielding commitment to all things delicious.Steven R.
Business Owner
The founder and Chief Eating Officer was born and raised on a SW Michigan fresh fruit and vegetable farm in the 1960s-70s. A place where heirloom varieties were prized, and full-flavored edibles were what was eaten.
After two summers in an open-air market in New Buffalo, MI, Steven opened his own fresh fruit stand in Benton Harbor, MI; spending two summers serving tourists from Chicago, St. Louis, and other Midwestern cities as they traveled to cottages and resorts along Lake Michigan. He then completed his BS in Ag Econ at Michigan State in 1983 and went to work in the corporate world of food distribution where he explains “he learned how NOT to do business.”
After a short stint in biotech, and another in the fresh flower business, Steven worked as a film maker, before opening Liberty Heights Fresh and focusing his attention to bringing authentic full-flavored food to Utah.
