Former owner, Alex, bought the store in 1983 to provide employment for friends of his who were struggling to find work. At the time, the store had two or three household refrigerators and some shelves for groceries. Over time, he was able to increase the size of the store but the guiding principles remained the same. Along with staff, he was committed to selling only high quality natural and organic food products, operating at a high level of honesty and integrity, and treating everyone with respect and kindness. They were dedicated to sharing their knowledge with customers.
