A master of her craft, culinary artist Jan Kish has made it possible for clients worldwide to enjoy her exquisite cakes and sweet accessories. Her incredible creations and unique designs often become the grand centerpiece for a multitude of occasions. Jan specializes in wedding cakes, groom cakes, birthday and celebration cakes. She is also one of two individuals in Columbus trained in the art of sabering champagne bottles (check it out in the photos!) which is a celebration inspired by Napoleon. Distinguishing Kish from other culinary artists is her ability to use her diverse skills to personalize an event, expressing the “heart and soul” of a special moment in delectable, delicious cake creations. She works closely with her clients to acquaint herself with their desires and to develop ideas uniquely suited for their occasion; such as incorporating the design of the bridal gown or using significant symbols particular to the celebration. She then goes to great lengths to actualize them using many artistic techniques such as stippling, painting, sculpting and architectural structuring. To further enhance her creations, she often incorporates gold leaf, pressed flowers from her garden, and hand-molded sugar pieces. Jan’s creations are available to be shipped internationally, just inquire by phone or email! We have included photos on our website and on Facebook a sampling of what is available. Established in 1980.
Culinary arts are only a part of Kish’s career. She was educated in English Literature at Oxford University, England, worked as a cardiac catheterization assistant at The Ohio State University Hospital for ten years (home of the 2002 Fiesta Bowl National Football Champions!), and was the events coordinators as well as owner of a catering business and two restaurants all entitled la petite fleur. But for Kish, it was her Hungarian heritage and her Mother’s passion for baking that ultimately won her heart. Her competitive spirit flew on TLC’s Ultimate Cake Challenge where she garnered “Best Tasting Cake”; on The Food Network’s Cake Competition Jan created a hand-tooled ‘leather’ fondant cake where Trista and Ryan of ‘Bachelorette’ fame were judges. She accepted the nod from Good Morning America’s Breast Cancer ‘Think Pink’ Awareness campaign where their set served as backdrop for Jan’s beautiful pink tribute -plus- her cookies and a wedding cake have also appeared.Jan K.
