Business Owner
Vernon’s family immigrated from South Africa /Namibia when he was a child. His parents opened a European bakery and cafe in Peoria, Illinois. After moving to Salt Lake City and working as an Architect, Vernon found this little place in the 90’s , then called The Bakery. After being a customer for years, he and Hally were drawn to the potential of this special downtown treasure. They had the idea of creating a place where people of all walks of life could come and eat extraordinary food have a special dining experience that they could afford. For 15 years Jean Jacques was our chef. In January Robert Angelilli became our Chef Patissier. He has made fine pastries at a number of Salt Lake and Park City’s finest places including his time as the Executive Pastry Chef at the Grand America. Carlos Hernandez took over as the Head Chef of the cafe’ in 2016.
