Established as Gilt in the Sellwood neighborhood in 1994. Moved to northwest Nob Hill district and have happily been here for over 20 years. In 2016 our name has evolved to Gem Set Love. Nothing else has changed, just our name.

Paula Bixel is the owner of Gem Set Love (formerly Gilt) in Portland, Oregon. Her obsession with antique and ancient adornment began as a young girl with her Aunt’s collection of Victorian and Art Deco treasures. She always knew she wanted to work with antique jewelry. After years of hard work with all things antique Paula channeled her passions by opening a boutique called Gilt, in 1994.
Paula has an unbounded passion for jewelry and loves to share her knowledge with customers. Her specialty is helping people refine their collections focusing on subtle nuances of style, materials, rarity and beauty that make a piece a special treasure amongst other special treasures. Those who enter her store feeling overwhelmed or intimidated by jewelry will soon find a friend in Paula, as she strives to help each customer feel comfortable and confident.
