In September of 1970, LR Toothman moved his family from Pittsburgh to Orlando to start this independent RadioShack store. He passed away in September 1984 leaving his business to his two sons. In August of 1992 Greg left for medical school, and Jon maintained management of the business. In July of 1998 the business was moved to it’s current location at 2001 S Orange Av, about one mile south of downtown Orlando.

Owning a small business in a city such as Orlando is as much about being involved in the local community as it is in running the day to day operations of the business. As a founding member of the local Downtown South Main Street it’s been important for me to remember to help and support our neighbor’s in business as they help and support mine. Being involved with our local Little League of Delaney Park has been an important part of my family activities and helps me realize and appreciate the wonderful neighborhood “village” that we’re part of. Being fortunate enough to have been selected by our city’s mayor to serve on the Downtown South Neighborhood Improvement District’s Advisory Board has allowed me to help guide the direction of our district with certain infrastructure improvements that may help improve our standard of living by elevating property values which in turn may lead to greater demand in commercial locally owned businesses and highly sought after residential properties
