Walt Stinson and Steven Weiner founded ListenUp with one purpose: to provide the very best in sound reproduction. Over the years that goal has expanded to include categories such as high-definition video and control systems. Longtime Denver residents may remember that in the ’70s, ListenUp created the sound system and did live radio broadcasts for Ebbets Field, the legendary nightclub. A few years later the company created a state-of-the-art sound system and recording set-up at the Rainbow Music Hall. An early adopter of digital technology, ListenUp sold the most CD players in the country for 1983, and for several years the company also offered the broadest selection of discs in the country, which further hastened acceptance of the then revolutionary technology. In 2005, ListenUp created a Reference Theater that was the subject of a cover story by Home Theater magazine. In 2009, ListenUp co-founder Walt Stinson was inducted into the Consumer Electronics Hall of Fame.Chris H.

Colorado native Chris Havekost has one of those “start at the bottom and work your way to the top” stories. In 1983 he was hired fresh out of CU to shuttle equipment and parts for ListenUp’s (now defunct) car stereo department. In less than a year he was designing and selling automotive systems, and within several years he became that store’s top salesman.Chris moved over to the Denver home A/V store in 1992, and in 2005 he became its manager. “I’ve really found my calling,” says Chris. “To be able work with such incredible equipment and grow with a company that works so hard to make it’s clients happy is a rare privilege”. “Everyone here loves the gear and sharing our passion with the community”.
True to his Scandinavian heritage Chris spends much of his time off in the Colorado high country skiing, mountain bike riding and back backing.
