Established in 1988.
Founded by Tommy Baker in 1988, Baker Motor Company began with its original location on Morrison Drive in Downtown Charleston. The Company has since expanded to now include Mercedes-Benz, Maserati, Porsche, Land Rover, Infiniti, Smart, Jaguar, Sprinter, Buick, GMC, Cadillac and a state of the art Luxury Pre-Owned Center in Mount Pleasant.

As the heart of the executive team at Baker Motor Company, Tommy Baker leads with the character and dignity. He is a visionary, innovator and a well-respected member of the Charleston community.
His background includes serving as a member of the United States Marine Corps, followed by graduating from the Citadel, and later graduating from The Harvard Business School.
Mr. Baker founded Baker Motor Company in 1988 as a single point Mercedes-Benz dealership. Over the course of 24 years, he’s grown the company to include three state of the art dealerships: Baker Motor Company of Charleston, Baker Motor Company of Mt. Pleasant and Baker Buick GMC Cadillac.
Mr. Baker supports many organizations and nonprofits including MUSC Children’s Hospital, Camp Happy Days, Hollings Cancer Center, Charleston Symphony Orchestra, Historic Charleston Foundation, YESCarolina and more. Mr. Baker was Entrepreneur in Residence and taught a senior level course at The College of Charleston for 21 years.
