I am completely self-taught it all phases of my jewelry operation… It began when I first discovered native American silver and turquoise and proceeded to go to Gallup New Mexico to buy jewelry.. In my innocence I purchased jewelry that was not handmade but mass-produced and at that point I vowed that I would teach myself this art… I exhibited it Native American arts and craft shows and received blue ribbons for my work people was so inspired that they said I should work in gold and platinum and so I expanded my education to the point of where I am today. Born and raised in New York City… Started out in my own business doing custom leatherwork.. My shop was called” heavy leather Steve’s” located at one 30 1/4 E. 65th St. Right off Lexington Avenue.. It was there that I saw my first Silver and turquoise concho belt and fell in love with jewelry..
