We specialize in hand crafted finest silk, premium cashmere and hand embroidered art. We create unique and authentic items. From fashion clothing to home ware, fashion accessories, bed linen, and artworks, we have a rich collection to suit any taste. Our silk fabric ranges from exquisite Shantung taffeta to elegant jacquards, which are supplied by small weaving and farming households in Vietnam, where silk production has been a tradition for generations. Our suppliers use traditional methods of thread spinning, weaving and dyeing by hand in small batches with weaving patterns containing centuries-old symbols and characters. Our cashmere yarns are well selected and high quality sourced from goats in the Gobi Desert, Inner Mongolia, where only the longest and finest under-fleece — the hair close to the goat’s skin is spun and woven to make good-quality cashmere. We use only the finest and sustainably grown cashmere, and insist on making our products better than they need to be.

Mai created MAISILK in Berkeley, California with a vision of creating beautiful fashion & lifestyle products from silk, cashmere and natural materials using her weaving, tailoring & hand embroidery skills she has acquired and been cultivating since her childhood.

Mai grew up in Hanoi, Vietnam, which is the center of silk weaving and sericulture (silk worm production) in Southeast Asia for over a thousand years. Surrounded by beautiful textile, colorful patterns and irresistible magic of hand embroidery art, she had developed strong passion for silk weaving, tailoring and hand embroidering since a very young age. She learned how to weave and hand embroider from her grandmother and has been using the same tools ever since. Now, she is busy designing and developing timeless fashion and lifestyle pieces from silk, cashmere and natural materials.
