Established in 1990.
Alchemy originally started out as a manufacturing trade-shop creating custom designs, repairs and expert casting services for the jewelry industry. In 2005 Alchemy seized the opportunity to open its own retail store in the Pearl District of downtown Portland. Today, Alchemy stands out as one of the few true jewelers in the Pacific Northwest to offer high quality services, award winning designers and in-house metalsmithing.

I started my jewelry path back in the 70’s while cutting gemstones with a neighbor who was a rock-hound enthusiast. A decade later I became a journeyman metal fabricator for nearly 20 years before returning to jewelry. This experience exposed me to a vast array of metal working techniques. I changed carries after the fall of ship repair industry in Portland and picked up jewelry as a profession. My vast knowledge of metals and gemstones helped guide me into the craft of fine jewelry. After spending 7 years as the Head-Jeweler at Zell Brothers Jewelers here in Portland, I decided it was time to open a truly unique jewelry store that caters to the art of jewelry making, but still offers the same great services that customers expect. Alchemy; A special guild of patrons and artist.
