Founded in 1940 by Murray Greenberg, Murray’s Cheese has long been a fixture of New York’s Greenwich Village. Along with neighboring food destinations Faicco’s, Ottomanelli’s and Rocco’s, Murray’s is part of the rich food history of this formerly Italian enclave. Initially a wholesaler of butter and eggs, Murray’s has evolved into New York’s favorite cheese shop, and opened a second location in Grand Central Terminal Market in 2002. The Murray’s family of businesses has come a long way since its humble beginnings 75+ years ago. In addition to the two New York retail locations and Murray’s Cheese Bar restaurant, Murray’s also runs onsite and offsite events, full-service catering, a thriving E-Commerce business, state-of-the-art cheese aging caves, and robust educational programming.
