Established in 1973.
I started working in my father’s meat market at the age of 13 when my dad began to teach me his trade, which he learned from his dad. At the age of 17, I opened my first meat market in Gainesville, FL. Since opening the Orlando store in 1973, the business has evolved quite a bit. We expanded our store and added a produce department in 1981; we expanded again in 1983, 1999, and 2001. In 2008 I changed the name of the business from “Momm’s Meats Popp’s Produce” to “Freshfields Farm”. The name change signaled our increased commitment to offering the highest quality and freshest meat and produce to our customers, who seem to like it – so much so that we’re looking for ways to continue to grow. Lord willing, we’ll keep evolving as we continue to learn and understand how to serve people better. I’m looking forward to finding new and better ways to take care of our customers, who have been so loyal to us as a company over the years.

My wife, Jackie, and I met in Gainesville in 1970; 3 years later we opened our first store. I learned the meat business from my father and grandfather who operated meat markets in Ocala and Gainesville in the 1960s.
