Although our company is young, the formation started years ago when Michael Baetge, the owner of SC41 Furniture, Inc., founded California Futons, Inc. For more than two decades California Futons has offered natural, organic and chemical-free futons. Today, with an ever increasing awareness about our environment, choices are now not only more diverse – sustainable harvested wood, nontoxic finishes and furniture upholstered with sustainable and organically produced, low-impact dyed fabrics – but abundant, making eco-friendly material more affordable than ever. Out of this social, environmental and health conscious movement, SC41 Furniture came to life.

When creating SC41 Furniture, I was reminded of the slogan, ‘think globally and act locally.’ We may be the first local business to be entirely green, from the inside out. Our building was renovated using low or no VOCs (volatile organic compounds) materials. Every time we make a decision to use eco-friendly products, not only is the planet benefiting, but we are making a healthy choice for ourselves. »
