Founded by Eva Sam, who immigrated to the United States from Macau in 1982– Popular Jewelry started out as a tiny jewelry booth tucked among the outskirts of Downtown neighborhoods Soho, Tribeca, and Chinatown. Popular Jewelry has been at the same location ever since, serving a diverse pool of clientele.

Eva and her husband Charlie each come from their very own jeweler families. Eva worked as a seamstress when she first immigrated to New York in 1982; she eventually saved up money to open her own fine jewelry store on Canal Street.
