We’re an award-winning pet supply boutique (2006, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 5280’s Top of the Town, 2009 Westword’s Best of Denver, Highland’s Mommies Best Pet Store, that specializes in all the necessities and frivolities for dogs and cats. We offer healthy food and treats, long-lasting chews, durable toys, great collars and leashes, bowls, beds and gifts among other things. Our store features a bakery case brimming with goodies for birthdays and special occasions. We encourage you to bring your pet and even offer a fenced back patio for get-togethers. Bring your lunch and stay awhile!

Tonya Payne and Deb Dempsey founded Mouthfuls in an effort to solve their own dog’s breath problem. The two grew up locally and have been best friends since high school. Mouthfuls launched their original Dogone Fresh Breath Mints in 1999 and soon followed with a myriad of other treats that were sold to pet retailers around the country. In 2005, these pet-minded buddies decided to open a retail store of their own in the Berkeley neighborhood on Tennyson. Tennyson’s original pet boutique won 5280’s Top of the Town award the very next year. During the 2007 pet food recall, the store was Denver’s media hub and dispersed information to pet owners in the metro area. Because the store’s owners focus on quality ingredients and won’t carry « junk food » none of the foods they carried were involved in the recall. In 2008, the store added a back patio, contributing to its’ reputation as a neighborhood gathering place. They encourage people to socialize with their pets and enjoy!

Deb Dempsey and Tonya Payne grew up in the area and graduated from Wheat Ridge High School. The two were best friends in high school and remain that today. Both women are pet lovers and between the two of them have 8 dogs and 2 cats.

Deb Dempsey is a nutritional contributor for The American Dog Magazine, a nationally distributed dog lifestyle magazine. Both owners feel very strongly that good nutrition is imperative to a dog or cat’s health and make their store selections with that in mind.
