The original business was opened in 1969 as First Creation which was the first waterbed store in Denver and later expanded with several other locations from Aspen to Colorado Springs including several more upscale furniture stores called the Dream Merchant opened in 1976.

I began this business in 1969 as a graduate student at the University of Denver studying International Trade Economics with intent to work at the International Monetary Fund in Washington after graduation. As happens frequently I fell in love with Denver and it’s life style and I guess after 42 years here I’m staying. Despite the demands of being in a small business today I still love working with the pubic and have made many friends with long time customers.
