Big Fisherman has everything you need for a complete, authentic New Orleans meal. We also offer a great selection of local fresh seafood including fish, oysters, shrimp, and muscles. We have everything from alligator and turtle meat and stuffed artichokes to speciality sasuages and crawfish pies! Big Fishermen is a carry out market (no seating) but there are several businesses within walking distance that will let you enjoy the goods if you purchase a drink from them.

This family owned and operated business located on historic Magazine Street, has been serving up fresh and boiled seafood, for over three decades. On any given day, Owner and Operator Henry Poynot can be found lighting pots and running crawfish, preparing some New Orleans favorites. Over the years Big Fisherman has earned the reputation as one of the best local spots for quality, great tasting seafood and friendly staff. Big Fishermen has been featured in Alton Brown’s Feasting on Asphalt and has appeared on the Food Network, the Travel Channel, CNN Live and several other local and national media outlets.

Seafood Connoisseur by day, Super Uncle by night. Henry opened the business at the ripe age of 23 and has been prepping, cleaning, boiling and taste testing ever since. He prides himself on delivering a consistent and excellent product to his customers every time as well as providing a fun and friendly atmosphere for his staff. You can find many of his nieces, nephews, sisters and brothers behind the counter or in the back working side by side at « The Big Fish. »
