Walt Stinson and Steven Weiner founded ListenUp with one purpose: to provide the very best in sound reproduction. Over the years that goal has expanded to include categories such as high-definition video and control systems. Longtime Denver residents may remember that in the ’70s, ListenUp created the sound system and did live radio broadcasts for Ebbets Field, the legendary nightclub. A few years later the company created a state-of-the-art sound system and recording set-up at the Rainbow Music Hall. An early adopter of digital technology, ListenUp sold the most CD players in the country for 1983, and for several years the company also offered the broadest selection of discs in the country, which further hastened acceptance of the then revolutionary technology. In 2005, ListenUp created a Reference Theater that was the subject of a cover story by Home Theater magazine. With the exception of a few college years, ListenUp Store Manager Sean Pierce has lived in Albuquerque his entire life, so he definitely knows the territory. And though he’s new to the A/V industry, he has exactly the kind of customer service experience that dovetails nicely with ListenUp’s philosophy.

«The A/V business is always changing and always entertaining,» says Sean. «We stay ahead of the technology curve, and it’s exciting to work on the cutting edge. For example, we recently installed an ultimate man-cave for the sports addict. It’s got SEVEN huge TVs in one room with a ton of McIntosh and B&W gear. Naturally, it’s all tied together with a control system for hassle-free viewing. Very cool.»

Sean has been married since 2003, and he and his wife have two little girls and a new baby boy. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his family and brewing craft beer.
