Sugimatsu opened the business and started a Japanese Confectionary in Fresno, CA in 1915. It has been in the same family ever since. Today, Kogetsu-Do is the ONLY one that makes Japanese ice cream mochi and manju (Japanese pastries) by hand in the San Joaquin Valley. Lynn has taken over the family business since her father passed away.
