Colder’s was founded by Henry Felker as the Henry Cooler Company. Not until an advertising sign misspelled the name to Henry’s Colder Company was the future namesake created. Initially, Colder’s was a refrigeration service company. In 1946, Harry Felker joined the company and Colder’s branched out into refreigerator and freezer sales. Working from the back of their truck, they began selling and delivering freezers to neighborhoods throughout Milwaukee. The first retail store was located at 18th and Fond du Lac Avenue. Colder’s product line up continued to grow with the addition of more appliances in the 1950s and furniture in the 1940s. In 1983, Colder’s moved into the current West Allis location at Hwy 100 and I-94. Colder’s has three other locations: Oak Creek (1983), Delafield (2002) and Grafton (2004).
