Brazilian Breads

Don’t be mistaken, we are not a Churrascaria nor a Taqueria! We opened our Cafe so we could share with you the home of Brazilian Breads. Our specialties are Brazilian cheese bread bites and sandwiches, Tapioca crepe, Açaí bowls, and Yucca fries. We also offer other treats such as Brazilian Coffee, Brigadeiro (chocolate dessert), and carrot cake amongst others. Our friends with restricted diets are never left out since our dishes are made from Cassava root, Acai berry, Dragon Fruit, and Coconut among other tropical superfoods. Meat lovers come try our locally sourced Picanha beef sandwiches and bacon Cheese Bread! We also deliver and do catering for corporation, individuals and public events. We can deliver ready to eat food platters, or set up cooking stations or tent so your guests can see, smell, and taste our freshly prepared food. Lastly, we offer specialty grocery item for you to try your hand in the kitchen at home. Here are some of our locally made offerings: frozen cheese bread, hydrated tapioca gum, and Brazilian coffee. Come try tropical Brazilian flavors in deliciously friendly, quick, and healthy snacks, meals, desserts, and beverages.

Established in 2015.
In May 2020 we opened a new location on 26 Medway Rd in San Rafael. It has different offerings as our Berkeley Cafe but you will sure love it! We’ve come a long way since our journey started in 2009 when I made my way to San Francisco. I was enchanted by the food and people, but I missed my grandma’s Pao de Queijo (cheese bread). After many years experimenting with local ingredients I was able to achieve the same amazing texture and taste! Friends overwhelmingly started asking me to make cheese bread, inspiring me to introduce Brazilian bread to the local Bay Area community. I developed unique flavors to complement the local cuisine and in 2015 managed to start the business serving small parties. By the end of 2015 by word of mouth I started getting calls to attend events, parties and festivals. In 2018 I finally was able to open my first retail location: Brazilian Breads Cafe in North Berkeley. I’m proud to introduce the amazing taste of artisan-made Brazilian food.

I was born and raised in in a lower middle class family in the central part of Brazil, Goias. With much effort managed to become a Computer Science teacher at a couple of local universities. However, disillusionment with how Brazil treats Education and Teachers got me to leave. I got here in 2009 with a back-pack of dreams and a love for cooking. I loved California at first sight and now have family and friends to share my life in the Bay Area. This is the place that I choose to call home!
