Raised is a small farming village behind the iron curtain, Zdena Jiroutova of ZFolio with her husband and business partner Michael Mendizza have taken the entrepreneurial spirit to heart.

In 2006 Z and Michael opened their first retail location in Solvang, a Danish community north of Santa Barbara. In 2009 they launched their second location on Cannery Row in Monterey. Remarkably, in 2013-2014, ZFolio was voted Best Retailer of Designer Jewelry in the United States by the design community, an honor repeated in 2014-2015. Also applauding their success are awards from the local Chamber of Commerce, Rotary, Pacific Coast Business Times and Women’s Economic Ventures.

Next came a sophisticated e-commerce website featuring jewelry, contemporary art glass, Michael’s large format photography and art for the home.

Their newest and most ambitious offering is a new gallery in the heart of Santa Barbara, featuring the best in Czech collector art glass on the west coast.
