It all started back in 1996 with a furniture showroom. Throughout our journey, our owner and founder came to be known as ‘The Sofa Guy’ — and well, the name fit perfectly. Simply put, that’s what we do: design and create custom sofas. Today, our team is proud to provide Thousand Oaks and the surrounding cities with custom sofa designs and personalized service for furnishing the entire house. Bridging the gap between a design firm and a furniture showroom, our purpose is to collaborate with our clients to create welcoming environments within their homes. Established in 1996.
I opened my first furniture design store in Venice Beach called Philip Paul Designs. I didn’t know a thing about design or furniture. I was a, quote, “Actor”. Translation,I waited tables at the Cheesecake Factory. But with a second child on the way, I had to come up with a great money making scheme. I was, afterall, a graduate from the W.A.C. department at UCLA. I could figure something out. So I opened up a small store where I made even less money than waiting tables… hmmm. To make a long story longer… Our store grew, learned a thing or two about sofas, furniture, and design… and found that I loved making “House Calls”… getting out of the store and helping clients in their home. In October of 2006, The Sofa Guy at Welcome Home Interiors moved into the Westlake Design Center. A cool little industrial area off Lindero Canyon on Via Colinas is a wonderful mix of Interior Design showrooms, dog groomers, flower shops, a little food place. Come by and check us out!

How I Became The Sofa Guy.
One day, I knocked on a client’s door and heard; “Hey Honey, The sofa guy is here” I thought, “Wow, I like that. It’s simple, memorable, a little goofy, but then again so am I.”
But, can it be classy too? Will it convey a sense of quality, value and design or will it sound like a sleazy salesman on cable TV? You can see my predicament. These things keep me up at night.
For years I shunned, “The Sofa Guy” moniker in favor of a more refined and dignified name, “Welcome Home Interiors.”
Enough already, I said, be The Sofa Guy, keep it simple.
Here it is world I’m coming out –
“Hi…my name is Paul…..and….I AM The Sofa Guy” Whew, that felt good. I am proud of my name. I have embraced the sofa guy within and I hope you, if you have actually read this far, have enjoyed the journey as well.
