Our mission was simple: to provide high-quality mattresses at honest, quality prices. Today, almost a century later, our family still proudly manufactures high-quality comfort. Keeping with our traditions and not industry trends, our mattresses are still two-sided, allowing them to be flipped and turned, essentially doubling the life. Square Deal Mattress Factory & Upholstery is still located in the same place it started in 1920. Square Deal Mattress Factory & Upholstery has been family owned and operated with the same values established by founder Ennis Rife over 96 years ago. Ennis Rife went to work for Chico Mattress Factory when he was sixteen years old and gained valuable knowledge to help him start his own company. He wanted to give his customers the highest quality products at a fair price. Eventually, the business took off! He opened an additional mattress factory in Oroville and another upholstery shop in Paradise. Ennis and his wife, Leotta, worked side by side for over sixty years. They taught their family the tried and true traditional methods of quality workmanship. Lois Lash and son Richard Lash, took over and started expanding the business with new mattress technology. They contribute their expertise to fourth generation, Jessica Lash and Jamie Anderson, who are continuing the dream envisioned by their great grandfather from the beginning.

Square Deal Mattress Factory & Upholstery was founded in 1920 by Ennis Rife. After working for a local bed factory that had taken advantage of their customers by using inferior materials in their mattresses, Ennis realized he could provide a superior product at competitive prices and thus Square Deal was founded.

Today, those same traditional values of honesty, service and quality have been passed down to his daughter, Lois, his grandson, Richard, and his great granddaughters, Jennifer, Jamie and Jessica. Jessica Lash, owner and operator, enjoys being able to serve the public at Square Deal Mattress Factory & Upholstery, where honesty, service, and quality are the driving forces of the business.
