Seldens has been a complete home furnishings destination in the Puget Sound region since 1940. It was in April of 1940 that Syd Selden opened his own floor-covering store. The business opened with 5 employees and a back room stocked with rolls of linoleum, window shades, and carpeting. It was their window coverings that would help them weather through the tough economic times in WWII as customers were anxious to purchase blackout blinds. Seldens has grown from a staff of 5 when it first opened its doors to more than 100 now, including salespeople, designers, warehouse, and delivery staff.
