Rocketbuster Handmade Custom Boots Space age vintage style for folks who just ain’t boring! For 30 years our boots have combined the painstakingly intricate techniques of historic Texas cowboy boots with the imagination and dreams of our customers. Made right here in our shop in the historic Union Plaza district of downtown El Paso we take “hands on” to a whole new level. By expanding the artistic possibilities of classic tradition we are introducing cowboy boots to travelers from around the world and teaching our craft to young artists to carry on this unique Texas art form.
Established in 1990.
Once upon a time …on the edge of Texas there was a commercial photographer named Marty Snortum who loved the craftsmanship of vintage objects; vintage cars, jukeboxes, furniture and yes…BOOTS! Marty loved the colors and styles of classic 40’s boots and wondered why they stopped making them. As tall tales go …Marty was offered a trade in a bar one night…his ’53 Cadillac for a boot company. (which was basically 2 sewing machines, a pile of leather and 2 employees) He awoke in the am determined to devote his new company to reviving the classic boot techniques, and art like Roy Rogers wore in the movies. Rocketbuster literally blasted off! Jump ahead to 1994 when Marty was hired to make boots for fashion designer Nicole Miller’s runway show. Nevena Christi was Nicole’s right hand gal and when she met Marty sparks flew! In 1997 she took the helm at Rocketbuster and devoted the company to its custom clientele creating amazing works of one of a kind art!Nevena C.
