Established in 1938.
Quality Seafood was originally located at 1005 Congress Ave, but later moved to San Jacinto Ave between 18th and 19th St, before settling at 409 East 19th St in 1950. In 1958, Chester C. Husted bought the business, and in 1965, he moved it to 2105 East Ave. At this location, he installed the first kitchen. In 1970, Mr. Husted moved Quality Seafood to 5621 Airport Blvd. Harris Husted and Jamie Akenhead inherited the business from their father in 1982. They were the first to install a dining room in the restaurant. Sam Eaves bought the business in 1990 and greatly expanded the company’s wholesale client base throughout Austin. In 2003, Paul and Carol Huntsberger acquired the business and helped the restaurant evolve from a fried food kitchen into a fresh seafood dining experience. Quality Seafood Market continues to grow under the leadership of Carol Huntsberger (sole owner since 2010).
