Pearl’s Cupcake Shoppe is Richmond’s destination for handheld desserts and confections baked fresh daily on site, using the finest gourmet and local ingredients.

Established in 2010.
The culinary and personal muse for our cupcakery is Pearl Gentry Chapman, one of our founder’s grandmothers. Pearl was born in November of 1911 outside of Charlottesville, Virginia. She was the youngest daughter of ten children, and had a twin brother. She was married to Nathaniel Aljourn Chapman for 56 years. They had two sons, followed by four grandchildren – two girls and two boys. Pearl cooked everything from scratch, using home grown ingredients, and hosted large Sunday dinners with as many as four or five desserts. She invented our Orange Blossoms, which are a favorite treat of her grandchildren to this day. Through her scrumptious recipes and nurturing spirit, she continues to inspire her family and friends, and remind us of the enduring comfort of love — and lots of butter and sugar. It is our pleasure to carry on this tradition of wholesome goodness.

Pearl’s Cupcake Shoppe was founded by Laura Condrey and Laurie Blakey. Friends for years, Laura and Laurie worked together in the real estate industry and have always shared a passion for the culinary arts and a love for entertaining. They found themselves helping each other with family gatherings and social occasions.

Laura and Laurie are lifelong bakers whose love for surprising and delighting is evidenced by a smile in every bite.
