P.O.R.G.I.E. Puppy Teaching

At P.O.R.G.I.E. we use a positive, holistic approach to teaching dogs and people. Instead of choke chains or punishments we use loving, positive, gentle techniques that create a relationship of mutual trust and respect. Using clickers, the puppy is first taught the meaning of a word before it is used as a command. Kindness teaching is not only positive reinforcement but also understanding and respecting the “dog’s point of view.” Problem solving is accomplished by properly defining the problem and setting up new rules. The rules are then carefully taught to the dog before they are enforced. This allows the dog to still do his doggy things within the family’s guidelines.
