Established in 2011.
Medford Food Co-op was incorporated in 2006. Thanks to the perseverance of leaders within the local cooperative community, the second effort to open a store was a success. By August of 2010, the goal of raising half a million dollars was surpassed through co-op member-generated loans. In August 2011, Medford’s only community-owned grocery store dedicated to organic and natural products opened its doors. In 2014, the Co-op started producing prepared foods in-house. These grab-and-go sandwich and salad options were well received by shoppers, who continued to ask for more variety. Seeing the opportunity for growth, the Board began exploring options to expand the prepared foods department the following year. In 2016, the Board completed plans for a café to be constructed in the existing annex building on the property. The Co-op completed this expansion project in November 2017, opening the Café – now offering a variety of fresh, delicious, wholesome meals to the community.
