We opened in April 2002 with the hope that Denver would embrace a neighborhood market like the kind we grew up with back east. Pete Marczyk was born and raised in Massachusetts. He moved to Denver in the 90’s and worked for Merrill Lynch. However, his passion was for of stock of a different sort, and in 2000, with his wife Barbara Macfarlane, he began to create the outline for Marczyk Fine Foods. His vision was for a family owned grocery, a world class neighborhood market that would bring in the best ingredients from all over the USA and Europe, where the staff was knowledgeable, and the ingredients were fresh.
In April 2002 Marczyk Fine Foods opened its doors, and Pete has become “Denver’s most eloquent grocer.” Peter has always been passionate about cooking with the best ingredients, and advocates simple preparation. He has a hell-of-a palate and don’t even get us going on his wine knowledge.
His brother Paul Marczyk joined Marczyk’s 4 years ago from the craft brewery industry. Paul has been essential to building a world class neighborhood market and a passionate staff.
