Joe has been making his special recipe Italian hot and sweet artisan sausage since he opened his specialty meat market in 1976. This is flavor and quality you won’t find anywhere else. Also, no Sunday morning is complete without our locally sourced thick cut slab bacon. Another deli feature is Joe’s homemade spicy capicola which is truly a customer favorite. Holidays are the times when you can pick up Joe’s homemade smoked kielbasi and hot pepper cheese smoked kielbasi. Made Pitcairn but tastes like it’s from the old country and perfect for your holiday gathering! Joe carries 100% natural Springer chicken and USDA pork and beef year round. Call in your meat order and we’ll have it ready to be picked up! To guarantee freshness, orders are cut to the customer’s specifications and no order is too small.

Long before the big box store supermarkets and strip malls began to emerge in the late 60’s and early 70’s, the establishment at 502 Broadway had been serving the community of Pitcairn. Back when Pitcairn was a booming railroad town its residents would walk along the main road finding everything imaginable, from fine clothing shops to furniture and grocery stores. Starting as a Dry Goods store in the early 1900’s, the business later evolved into a local supermarket. Joe’s Butcher Shop carries on that mission, serving residents of Pitcairn and its surrounding communities.

By early high school Joe was learning the art of butchering from his boss at Pitcairn Meats & Poultry, Nick “Spider” Mignogna. Later Joe was hired as a butcher and began to learn the grocery business from his mentor Al Feczko, owner of Bell Rose Market located at 502 Broadway.
In 1976, after a long tenure with Tom’s Butcher Block in Monroeville (where he not only became a member of the Butchers’ Union, but he served as Union Steward and Meat Manager) Joe bought the Bell Rose Market from his old boss Al. And so Joe’s Butcher Shop was born.
