Cottage Of Sweets

We are a classic Sweet Shop in the tradition of the old British Sweets shop. That tradition displays as many types of candies in as small an area as possible. We are literally wall to wall candy. Our shop is only 300 square feet, but we have over 600 different types of candies. We carry many types of bulk sweets, packaged British Sweets, as well as chocolates, fudges and over 90 different types of licorices from all over the world. We carry unique and traditional items for all the holidays. New products come in all the time, so you‘ll always find something new to taste at the Cottage of Sweets!

Established in 1959.
Our candy shop is located in a unique Carmel Cottage built in the 1920’s. The shop was actually built up the street on Delores Ave. In the late 1920’s the cottage was moved 2 blocks down Ocean Ave. and placed where it is today. It was a clothing store and also sold tickets out of a side window for a live theater which was built behind the cottage. After 2 fires in the theater, the theater was rebuilt into little shops and became Carmel’s first little shopping center, called the “Court of the Golden Bough”. The store became a sweet shop when a gentleman from Canada decided that it would make a perfect candy store. He based the store on his memories of his childhood in England. British Sweets and candies wall to wall, an explosion of color, and aromas. The shop was purchased in 1980 by Lanny and Linda Rose who have raised their 3 son’s in the store and have seen many families grow up coming into the Cottage of Sweets. My husband grew up just three blocks away from the Cottage of Sweets. We became the owners after almost forty years of buying sweets from the longtime former owners.
