Local food. Organic food. Sustainably-produced foods. Community-owned and community-oriented business practices. The Co-op has recently added a hot food and salad bar, open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Chico Natural Foods Cooperative started out as a 15-family buying club in 1972. The founders wanted an alternative to food that was over processed, sugary, or contained pesticides, herbicides, and artificial additives. Over 40 years later we are still committed to providing the best quality local, organic, and sustainably-produced foods at the best possible prices. In 2001, our membership voted to convert to a Cooperative for the many advantages this would offer. In June of 2004, we completed the process and are now a member of National Cooperative Grocers (NCG).
