Baba’s Dough Box

One of the very few artisanal bakeries left in Saskatchewan. All of our product, including breads, are all rolled and kneaded by hand. We pride ourselves in everything being made from scratch and handmade with love. Breads and cinnamon buns are baked fresh daily. Just like family, you’re always welcome at Babas!

Mila started out with a small table at the Regina Farmers Market in 2002. As demand for her fresh handmade baking grew, so did her kitchen. She went from her small home kitchen, to converting her attached garage to a fully licensed kitchen with RQHR. The more she baked, the more people wanted her baking. In 2019, she decided it was time to make her deliciousness available daily. One of the biggest decisions was what to name her new shop. After many ideas and lists of options, Mila decided on something that brings a smile to her face every time she hears it, Babas Dough Box. Originally spelt as “Babas Do Box” by her, then 4 year old grandson, inside the lid of her first metal cash box used at the market. In August, Baba’s Dough Box opened its doors and the outpouring of support for Mila and an artisanal, family owned and operated bakery in the city has been tremendous.

Not only the owner but the baker too! Mila is married with 3 children, 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren who, at the age of, lets just say in her 60’s, has decided to follow her lifelong dream of owning a little shop of her own. Mila has always loved baking since she was a little girl with her own baba back home in the former Yugoslavia. Now, Mila, commonly known as Baba, loves to share that same time in the kitchen with her kids and their children. As Baba always says, food always brings family together!
