b. fine art jewelry displays an ever changing array of jewelry designed and made by local artisans. Much is made on premises and remaking our customer’s jewerly is a store specialty. In addition to jewelry, apparel and accessories are fresh and never boring.
Established in 1996.
In 1996 I began making jewelry from a home based studio. 10 years later I needed more room and moved my studio to Ridgeland. Immediately it was obvious that a retail gallery was needed and a permanent location was purchased at 215 W. Jackson St. As a member of the Craftsmens Guild of MS, my store attracts clients interested in art jewelry. On our premises we design and make jewelry that is usually seen only through art shows and have the capability to produce custom designs. With a talented group of artisans, we fabricate, cast and use other magic tricks to create jewelry for our clients. In an increasing technical world my staff uses old world techniques. In addition to jewelry, b. fine art jewelry also sells apparel and accessories to individuals who do not want to look like everyone else. The unique nature of the items we sell is evident in the setting. Gradually we have lovingly brought a turn of the century building up to 21st century standards. Come see for yourself!Betsy L.
Business Owner
I was born an artist, but have taken many detours. After a career in family and nursing, I took a leap of faith and started my business creating fine art jewelry. Preceeding this, I had painted, sewn and created art in every way possible. Learning to make jewelry pulled all of these prior artistic methods into play in a format that is uniquely appealing to humans interested in bodily adornment.Learning a new skill as an adult requires persistence and the ability to adapt. I attended art schools all over the country for short, intense learning sessions to acquire the skills needed to create jewelry with a unique character. Anyone can purchase components and assemble them, so I set out to learn the basics of fabrication, casting, enameling and other skills that would set my work apart.
And then you throw in the need to learn business skills. Accounting, marketing and managing a staff are NOT taught in art classes. Thank God for “Dummy Books” and small business consultants!
