Annie has over 40 years experience handling exotic birds as an Avian Vet Tech enabling her to groom your bird gently and efficiently to minimize stress.

While working for avian specialist Hannis Stoddard in the late ’80’s, Annie and a fellow vet tech realized the need to reduce stress on birds and their owners by providing in-home grooming for them. Everything from canaries to cockatoos benefit from this service. As the business caught on Annie retired from the veterinary office and pursued bird grooming and pet sitting. Before long, both businesses thriving, she had to give one up. Now, focused solely on bird grooming, she is available 6 days a week throughout most of Southern California.

Annie took a job at a pet store at the age of 15 as part of a veterinary assistant course. Intrigued by a small parrot, she became fascinated by a species she has previously believed to be kept only by zoos and eccentrics. She received the Nanday Conure as a Christmas bonus and the two became inseparable.
She then, went on to work with the avian specialist, Perry Svedeen, DVM. Eighty percent of his patients were birds, and it was her job to handle the birds, as well as perform lab work and treatments.
Later she worked for Hannis Stoddard, DVM, another renowned avian practitioner who’s hospital was a training ground for many young vets interested in avian medicine. From there she worked at a consultant at one of the world’s largest bird farms in the Philippines, Birds International. When she returned, she and a friend started what later became Annie’s Avian Services. It has been her sole vocation since 1990 and she has had thousands of birds as clients.
