James first got his start working with metal, specifically industrial wiring. He then met someone who taught him how to apply this skill to jewelry making. For a while, he traveled on weekends, showing his work at shows until he was offered a position creating jewelry for a catalog company. After honing his craft for many years, he decided to share his passion by starting his own shop in Monterey.
