EarthWise Pet Supply East Village opened its doors in May of 2015. For the first year, it was run exclusively by Novak family members. After about a year, the owners decided they deserved weekends and some evenings off, so the search was on for staff members who could bring the same level of enthusiasm and knowledge that EarthWise customers came to expect. We found the perfect candidates right in front of us: EarthWise customers who fell in love withour store and were dying to work there!

Russ and Mary Anne Novak, moved to San Diego 35 years ago to raise their two children and pursue Russ’ career as a naval intelligence officer. Over the past 30 years Mary Anne has worked as a professional hair stylist. Their love for animals and passion for proper pet nutrition and care, led to their decision to open the franchise. Mary Anne recently earned her certification as a professional dog groomer, allowing her to make the career change from people to their pups. Mary Anne and the couple’s children, Luke and Katie, will work in the store, making it a truly family-owned and run business.
