Chula Seafood was established in 2009 in San Diego by the Heflin Family. The boat, FV Chula, was named after a family friend’s dog in Mexico nearly 20 years ago. FV Chula specializes in harpoon and deep-set buoy caught Swordfish along with other species off the California coast. After recognizing a void of fresh, high quality, sustainable fish in the Valley, the family brought Chula Seafood Wholesale to Arizona in 2015. Trucking over fish from the family boat straight to the desert, the first fish market and restaurant opened in Oct 2016 in South Scottsdale. Since then, Chula Seafood has been named Best Seafood by several publications such as The Arizona Republic/azcentral, Phoenix Magazine and The Phoenix New Times.
