We have one of the largest contemporary showrooms in Metro Detroit at our new Royal Oak location that opened September 2019 with large onsite parking lot and 3 handicap entrances for customer convenience. We have in-stock merchandise, but also a huge selection of fabrics to special order. Much of our furniture is manufactured in the US, Canada, and Europe. Also, visit our clearance center in Southfield on Telegraph Rd. Ask about our financing options, which are always changing, but can help you buy great furniture. We adhere to our vendor pricing specifications that typically makes us the lowest price in Metro Detroit. Bright Ideas was started by Jim and Beth Smith as a lighting store in Downtown Rochester in 1974. Furniture was slowly added over the years. The Downtown Royal Oak opened in 1985 when Royal Oak was nothing like it is today, but they saw potential for this area to grow into a destination. The 220 S Main building provides a great place to showcase furniture and allow our customers to enjoy a walk through the store and was a center piece to downtown Royal Oak. Our new Modern Showroom at 905 S Main St opened September 2019 with onsite parking, 3 handicap entrances, and all the furniture on one floor. It is an exciting change as we approach 50 years in business! We are an environmentally friendly company where all of the showroom lighting is powered by our large 18kw rooftop solar system. Bright Ideas is now a 2nd generation business, and we are happy to be the largest retail store in the downtown Royal Oak area.

Welcome to Bright Ideas Furniture, we are proud to be a family run business that provides unique contemporary and modern furniture and great service to Metro Detroit.
My wife and I currently run the business, but she and her staff deserve 99% of the credit, as I do the boring things like building maintenance, IT, trash, and saving energy such as all of our lights are powered by solar! She buys all the cool furniture and makes sure she finds quality merchandise that is awesome to look at. Her parents started the business, so they were the original brain children; however, our new location at 905 S Main with onsite parking and on 1 level is our creation and better experience for our customers!
We love Royal Oak and all the diversity it has to offer, the excitement, and we love animals. Plus we are a dog friendly store to the ones that don’t bite or pee, ha ha.
